Shields Dental & Skin Clinic, Castletroy

I feel they could be a little more transparent with their prices.
I popped in and asked for a price on teeth whitening for my son, she said between 250-400 and gave an appointment for the following Sunday.
We met the dentist that Sunday and he said the price would be €400 he then did two X-rays without asking or saying it would be extra. He also said I could collect them for him when they were ready, 5 minutes later at reception my son was charged €480.
I questioned this and was told there was a consultation fee of €50 & €30 for X-rays,
I got a call a few days later to say they were ready and my son needed to see the dentist. I asked if they would charge for this and told YES. I told her he agreed for me to collect them she then said he was adamant my son had to go in. Which he didn’t.
We would have no problem paying that if it was said from the start it would be €400 PLUS consultation fee and extra if he needed X-rays. We had priced around and could have got it cheaper than that.
I’m leaving this review as my son is only 18 and have been saving to get this done, €80 plus is a lot to some people.
I had thought of using Shields dentist for my daughter who needs top and bottom braces but have decided to go to 3Dental as they seem very transparent about their prices and have given us a written quotation.
I hope this review is published not to slate Sheilds dentist but to make people aware of overcharging especially in these times when people are struggling and have to save hard for things.

My kids, my mom and I are patients in Shields and we are very happy with all the work provided always.
Trust is the key especially when dealing with teeth.

I had a great experience at Shields Dental. Felt confident with the clinical care I received. Staff helpful & polite. They offered a service which was flexible and efficient. Couldn't fault cleanliness and hygiene. I would definitely return for treatment and recommend to others. Dr. Robert was a pleasure to deal with.

I initially met Dr Conor Shields and he took me through the proposed treatment plan step by step. Conor , Fida, Shruta and the team have been very informative , caring and considerate throughout my treatment. I would highly recommend.
